Frequently asked questions

Rates and network lists on this page come from the live API when the site is built (network data of 2026-10-29). The current values are always in Networks & pricing, GET /api/chains and GET /api/quotes; if anything here disagrees with the API, the API is right.

How can I verify Drip Tools before paying?

If you are checking whether Drip Tools (drip.tools) is legitimate before sending funds, these are the things you can check yourself instead of taking them on trust:

  • The contract you pay on EVM networks is public and verified. It is 0x52361c9412DceC6A83980fb065D0276ec001fACE, the same address on every EVM network we accept, with source code verified on Etherscan and Sourcify — see Depository contract. On Solana and TON you pay a treasury address listed in GET /api/chains. Take pay addresses only from the app, the API or these docs — never from a chat message or a third-party page.
  • Every quote is signed, and you can check the signature before you pay (how).
  • Every order can be tracked by its payment transaction hash (GET /api/order); a delivered order carries the testnet payout transaction hash, so you can see the delivery on the testnet explorer.
  • What happens when something fails is documented — see What happens if a payout fails?.
  • Nothing is asked of you but a payment. No sign-up, email or private key.
  • The same team runs the free faucets at faucet.trade. Questions and order issues: Discord.

A $1 order shows the whole flow with minimal risk.

How is Drip Tools secured?

Two things protect a payment: the terms are fixed by a signed quote before you pay, and the contract you pay through can neither hold funds nor touch payments already made.

  • Terms are locked before you pay. Every swap starts with a quote that Drip Tools signs (EIP-712). It fixes the paying wallet, the token and exact amount you pay, the recipients and what each receives, and a deadline 180 seconds later. A payment becomes an order only if it matches its quote exactly, and each quote is honoured once; a payment that does not match is held for review, never executed on other terms.
  • The EVM contract holds no funds. The depository is immutable — no proxy, no upgrade path, no withdraw function — and forwards every payment to the treasury in the same transaction, so there is no balance in it to drain. It can only take tokens from the wallet that calls it, and only the amount of that payment; it rejects plain transfers and tokens that deliver less than the stated amount.
  • Admin changes are delayed and public. The contract's owner is a 24-hour on-chain timelock (0x66fA683dcB6cd0602486218273E8B11B47Db89aC). Changing where future payments go, which tokens are accepted or the minimum amounts has to be scheduled on-chain a day in advance, and an independent key can cancel it. A separate emergency key can only pause payments, switch off a token, or redirect future payments to a backup treasury registered in advance.
  • Approvals cover only your payment. The app approves the exact amount of the payment, or — for USDC and other tokens with permit — asks for a permit signature for exactly that amount and deadline instead. USDT on Ethereum is the one exception: USDT cannot change a non-zero allowance, so the app sets one larger allowance instead of approving every payment; the contract still takes only what each payment you send calls for.
  • Payout servers hold only testnet tokens. The servers that send testnet tokens have no keys to the treasury that receives mainnet payments.
  • Nothing to sign in to. There is no account, password or email, and Drip Tools never asks for a seed phrase or private key. Your wallet signs the payment and, for permit tokens, the permit.
  • Solana and TON have no contract: you transfer to the treasury with the quote id as memo or comment (how), and the same quote checks apply.

The depository has not had a third-party audit yet. It is a single short contract built on OpenZeppelin libraries, and its full source is public on Etherscan and Sourcify.

No. Drip Tools (drip.tools) is unrelated to Drip the e-commerce email platform (drip.com), the "Drip Tools" Shopify app, DRiP Haus (the Solana collectibles app), DRIP Network, drip.re, Dripify, or the QuickNode faucet, whose claim URLs happen to end in /drip. "Drip" is also the word faucets use for a payout, which is where the name comes from — but Drip Tools is not a faucet. The only thing it does is swap mainnet crypto for testnet tokens. If a search result for "Drip Tools" is about anything else, it is a different product.

When does a paid testnet swap make sense?

Testnet tokens have no monetary value, and free faucets are the right first stop — the same team runs the free faucet.trade faucets. People come to Drip Tools when a faucet stops working for them:

  • it is empty or rate-limited (0.05–0.5 ETH per day is typical);
  • it requires a mainnet balance, a GitHub or Google account, or a Gitcoin Passport score;
  • it does not exist yet for a newer testnet;
  • hundreds of wallets need funding at once, or a CI job or agent needs tokens without captchas.

What you pay for is delivering testnet tokens instantly, at scale, on 31 networks — not the tokens themselves. If a faucet covers your need, use it.

What does testnet ETH cost?

Each testnet token has a fixed USD rate, listed in Networks & pricing and returned by GET /api/quotes. Sepolia ETH is $0.25 per ETH, so $1 buys 4 Sepolia ETH. Base Sepolia ETH is $0.25, Arbitrum Sepolia ETH $0.25, Hoodi ETH $0.1, Monad testnet MON $0.005 (200 MON for $1), Solana Devnet SOL $0.25, and Bitcoin Testnet4 BTC $10.00.

You pay that amount in a mainnet token of your choice, converted at its live Chainlink price at the moment the quote is issued. There is no fee or spread on top. You pay the gas of the network you pay from; gas for the testnet payout is covered by Drip Tools.

The minimum order is $1 for one recipient and $5 for several. A quote is valid for 180 seconds.

Which testnets can I receive tokens on?

31 testnets across EVM, Solana, TON and Bitcoin. Each has its own page with rates, a prefilled app link and a ready quote request:

Ethereum Holesky and Goerli are not supported; for Ethereum use Sepolia or Hoodi. Missing a testnet? Ask in Discord.

What can I pay with?

Not only EVM. Payment is accepted on 12 networks: Arbitrum (ETH, USDT, USDC), Avalanche (AVAX, USDT, USDC), Base (ETH, USDT, USDC), BNB Smart Chain (BNB, USDT, USDC), Ethereum (ETH, USDT, USDC), Hyperliquid (HYPE, USDC, USDT0), Monad (MON, USDC, USDT0), Optimism (ETH, USDT, USDC), Polygon (POL, USDT, USDC), Robinhood (ETH, USDG), Solana (SOL, USDC, USDT) and TON (GRAM). On TON the native coin is GRAM (formerly Toncoin).

On EVM networks you call the depository contract; on Solana and TON you transfer to the treasury with the quote id in the memo or comment (how). Pay from your own wallet, not from an exchange account: the payment must come from the wallet you quoted, and any refund goes back to that address.

How long does delivery take?

Most swaps finish within a minute of paying: once the payment is indexed on the network you paid from, the testnet payout usually lands within seconds. An order moves from processing to completed (with the payout transaction hash) or failed (see below). A quote is only issued for amounts the payout wallet can cover right now, so you never pay for tokens that are not there.

There is no formal SLA. If an order stays in processing for more than a few minutes, look it up by its payment hash (GET /api/order) and post the hash in Discord.

What happens if a payout fails?

A payout that cannot be delivered is refunded to the wallet that paid, on the network it was paid from. The refund is recorded automatically — within minutes of the batch settling — and the return transaction is sent by the Drip Tools team; you can follow both in the refund field of the order lookup (order lifecycle).

  • Multisend: the failed recipients' share is refunded and the delivered ones stand (capped so the delivered part still cost at least $1).
  • Solana and TON: a payment that lands after the quote's deadline, names a quote id that was never issued, or carries no readable quote id is refunded the same way. On EVM networks the contract rejects a late payment, so nothing is paid.
  • Held for review, not refunded automatically: a payment of a different amount or token, one sent from another wallet than the quoted one, or a second payment of the same quote. Contact Discord with the transaction hash (details).

A completed swap is final. Once the testnet tokens are delivered, the mainnet payment is not returned — testnet tokens cannot be sent back.

How is a multisend to many wallets priced?

One payment, up to 10 000 recipients per order, at the normal per-token rate. There is no per-recipient fee and no multisend surcharge; the only difference from a single swap is the $5 minimum.

Example: 2,000 wallets × 0.1 Sepolia ETH at $0.25 per ETH is 200 ETH, which is $50.00, paid in one transaction. Upload the recipients as CSV, TSV, TXT or XLSX in the app, or pass recipients and toAmounts to POST /api/quote. Gas for the testnet transfers is paid by Drip Tools, and failed recipients are refunded as above.

Can I fund wallets from a script, CI pipeline or AI agent?

Yes. The Drip Tools API is a public REST API, and everything the web app does is available through it with no account and no API key — the payment itself is the authorization (Quick Start, OpenAPI 3.1 spec).

A swap is four steps: GET /api/chains → POST /api/quote (a signed quote, valid for 180 seconds) → pay on-chain → GET /api/order until every order is completed. Runnable JavaScript and Python examples are provided, and DRY_RUN=1 builds the payment without sending it. For LLM agents there is a guide for agents and llms.txt. Rate limits: 600 requests/min per IP, 10 quotes/min per IP and 30 quotes/min per sender.

Do I need an account?

No. Connect a wallet (or call the API), pay, receive. There is no sign-up, email or KYC; orders are looked up by wallet address and transaction hash (privacy policy).

What if something is wrong with my order?

Have your payment transaction hash ready (on TON, the quote id) and look the order up with GET /api/order?from_tx_hash=. A TON payment that was refused shows up only in the payer's history (how). The errors reference explains every status and refund reason. If it is still unclear, post the hash in Discord.
